Minnie & Pink Polkas

Mickey & Minnie Mouse...true icons in the land of Disney and also in kids hearts! I got a request to make some Minnie Mouse cupcakes for twin girls who were
turning one and the colors were pink and white.

They turned out great and were super easy to make.  I used different sized piping tips for minnie's face, ears and polka dots, hand crafted the bows and used buttercream for the minnie white polka dots on the bow.  Super cute these were...and tasty too!

Weekend Fun - Colors & Cinnamon...Huh?!

This past weekend my orders consisted of beautiful bright buttercream frostings, cinnamon, and of course the 'Simply Stawberries' (strawberry)
and 'Love on Top' (red velvet), but I opted to only photograph the C's - cinnamon and colorful.

Naked, but just as good without the frosting!

Cinnamon, butter and brown sugar mixture is swirled
all throughout these cupcakes...Yum!!!

The cupcakes below were requested by a client for their 20th wedding anniversary celebration they were having.  One of the nicest couples I've had the pleasure of meeting in my entire life.  The exchange was very brief, but they definitely made a lasting empression.

Don't you just love the color combination of pink and orange?  I know I do and the fact that orange is my favorite color, probably has plenty to do with it. A customer requested these cupcakes (and red velvet) for her daughter's graduation party and informed me they were reluctant to share...too funny!

Fell in absolute love with the cupcake liners...those colors!

Haaah-Yah!

My post title is supposed to mimic the sound that is made when someone is performing a karate kick, move, etc.  I hope I succeeded! LOL!

These cupcakes were made for my eight year old cousin who received his 1st degree Black Belt!  A huge CONGRATULATIONS to him for such an accomplishment at such a young age.  His request, of course, were cupcakes decorated karate style.  I decided upon the ying-yang symbol and the upper body of a someone with their karate gear on.

Hello Kitty Birthday Party

It's 'Hello Kitty' Time
I love all of my girlfriends, but it's without a doubt that I love them all for different reasons - reasons that are formed from their characteristics and overall personality.  My one girlfriend is the mother of a little girl, and she recently celebrated her 2nd birthday.  When my friend commissioned me to do cupcakes for the party, I got so excited!!  Of course one of my first questions was "what is the theme going to be?" Well, if you knew this particular friend, you would not have been the least bit surprised when she responsed very nonchalantly and with the 'duh like' expression, "ummmm, Happy Birthday?"...yes, Happy Birthday will be the theme."  God Bless my friend, because she absolutely meant it! So, this is how we ended up with Hello Kitty themed cupcakes, because she was not going to just have 'Happy Birthday' cupcakes if I had anything to do with it and I'm glad I did. Gotta love END!

'Olivia the Pig' Kid's Birthday Party

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of making cupcakes for an 'Olivia the Pig' themed birthday party.  I had so much fun creating the toppers and the cupcake stand.  Little projects like this bring out my creative side!
For the toppers I used a large (2 1/2 inch) scalloped hole puncher for the background layer and for the foreground smaller layer (personalized) I used a smaller (1 1/4) scalloped hole puncher. I placed each topper on a rounded toothpick and inserted into cupcake.  For the cupcake stand, I used two regular different sized wrapping boxes and decorated with wrapping paper, ribbon and glittered scrapbooking paper (for dots on top box - cut with 1/2 inch circle hole puncher).

Each topper was personalized

Cotton Candy Mania!

Thanks again to my invent-a-flavor game, a friend of mine suggested I try cotton candy cupcakes!  Not that it hasn't been done before (you'll be hard-pressed to find a cupcake flavor that has yet to be discovered, BUT, if you do, let me know and I'll try it), it's just that I had never tried it.  The end result was what you would expect...Cotton Candy Goodness (if you're a cotton candy fan)!  The cupcake and frosting are both filled with cotton candy, so you won't miss that sugary taste!

Dora Birthday Party

These are my first attempt at Dora Princess cupcakes. One of my best friends' neice had a Dora themed party for her 3rd birthday and she gave me free reign to concoct my own cupcake and this was the result! It's a basic yellow cupcake with vanilla buttercream (tinted pink). The princess hat is made out of a mini ice cream cone and it is covered with melted buttercream and adorned with 'edible' crystals. The long bow off of the hat is a grape fruit roll-up, but I will be using taffy on the next go 'round. Finally, the frosting on the cupcake is decorated with multi-colored 'edible' confetti. The look will improve, but they tasted really good!
