Cookie Fever!

So, I've ventured into the world of cookie baking and cookie decorating! Yes, I'm still heavily committed to ALL THINGS CUPCAKE, but cookies have now become a part of That's So Morie Cupcakes' world! What is so funny about this new endeavor is that I initially started out baking cookies. I was one of the family members who 'baked cookies for the Holidays'. Now, I have picked up where I left off and gained a few tricks along the way as well.

Cookie decorating (with royal icing) has become just as fun (shhh..., if not a little more fun) as doing my cupcakes. The possibilities are endless with these things. I get lots of inspiration from Hayley Cakes and Cookies and Oh! Sugar Events along with other cookie blogs. Check out a few of my most recent creations. Some celebrating 'Back-to-School' nights and others as party favors for a 'Bridal Shower'!

For these cookies, I let the invitation serve as inspiration as it was so pretty!
The end result was to my liking. I used royal icing for the background
and hand painted the design.  It took some time, but the end result
was well worth it!

I owe this packaging technique to Glorious Treats. She has the cutest
ideas and I had to incorporate this one.

Finishing out the month of August...

It's been a while since I posted on my blogsite and I'm going to blame that on the new website! You see while I'm loving the new site (that I created all by myself - amateur stuff for sure), my blogsite is my darling and I've been neglecting it. So! I have some catching up to do right....about....now!

The cupcakes below were done on a "in the mood for baking" day. I had a free Sunday in to do absolutely nothing and I chose to bake!
"The Usual Too" - Chocolate cupcake w/cream cheese frosting w/
chocolate jimmies. The two in the back are standard size and the
one if the front is a jumbo sized cupcake.

"Apple of my Eye" - This bad boy here is a cinnamon and brown sugar apple filled cupcake
topped w/caramel infused buttercream frosting w/salted caramel drizzle. Delish!

Minnie & Pink Polkas

Mickey & Minnie Mouse...true icons in the land of Disney and also in kids hearts! I got a request to make some Minnie Mouse cupcakes for twin girls who were
turning one and the colors were pink and white.

They turned out great and were super easy to make.  I used different sized piping tips for minnie's face, ears and polka dots, hand crafted the bows and used buttercream for the minnie white polka dots on the bow.  Super cute these were...and tasty too!

The Pink Artist

Over the past weekend I was in a familiar baking mood.  I wanted to try something new with a 'summer-y' and 'light' feel to it, so I decided on pink lemonade cupcakes.  Definitely not new to the masses, but was new to me since it was my first time baking them and as I think of it, tasting them too.
For the cupcakes and frosting I used Minute Maid Pink Lemonade concentrate
along with lemon zest and fresh lemon juice and since they're pink lemonade cupcakes, it was only right that they be colored "pink"!
A big SHOUT OUT to my baby girl for winning the naming contest with
The Pink Artist!  She beat out my mother and fiance'
who's names sadly didn't make the list..womp-womp!

Cupcake Picnic at Georgetown Waterfront Park

This past weekend I had the pleasure of joining the ladies of the Cupcake Crusaders at the waterfront park in Georgetown, DC.  We had such a wonderful time!  Everyone who participated brought some cupcakes and we did a good ole fashion cupcake swap and even had a cupcake eating contest!  The contestants rocked out!!  I was too chicken to participate, plus this diet I'm on would have been screaming at me! I have plenty of pics posted below, so enjoy scrolling through!
