Cupcake Picnic at Georgetown Waterfront Park

This past weekend I had the pleasure of joining the ladies of the Cupcake Crusaders at the waterfront park in Georgetown, DC.  We had such a wonderful time!  Everyone who participated brought some cupcakes and we did a good ole fashion cupcake swap and even had a cupcake eating contest!  The contestants rocked out!!  I was too chicken to participate, plus this diet I'm on would have been screaming at me! I have plenty of pics posted below, so enjoy scrolling through!

Baby Shower

These are my first babyshower cupcakes made for a friend. Since I try to stay away from fondant (so far anyway---due to the taste), I wanted to stick with buttercream for the design. For the next time, I think I'll try royal icing...that will probably give more of a sheen and be a little more forgiving than the buttercream. However, changing the consistency of the buttercream will probably work just fine as well--so many decisions! Moving on, the cupcakes are yellow with lemon zest and the frosting is a lemon glaze with tangy lemon buttercream for the letters & numbers.

Citrus in the City

These are my "Citrus in the City" cupcakes. On a blistering hot day, cool yourself down with some ice cold freshly brewed tea and one of these flavorful cupcakes. Zested yellow cupcake with citrus (lime, lemon, & orange) glaze...Topped with slices and peels of each. Guarantee to cool you down.
